Fun Run

Those looking to get an early warm-up for the Cape Breton Fiddlers Run in September can get their chance this spring. The Fiddlers Fun Run Launch Event will be held June 6, 2010 starting at the Cape Breton Family YMCA in Sydney, which includes 5 km and 10 km road races.

“The goal of the Fun Run is to get people excited about the run in October,” said James Forsey, race director for the Fiddlers Fun Run Launch Event, in a release. “We want people to know that now is the time to start thinking about training and setting a goal for the race in the fall.”

The event is designed for every type of runner. The routes for the 5 km and 10 km road races kick off in downtown Sydney.

Races begin at 10 a.m. Walkers are welcome to both events.

There will be information booths set up with a variety of training tips for those looking to get into running, with everything from finding proper footwear to tips on nutrition and staying hydrated.

Doors open for the Fiddlers Fun Run Launch Event at 9 a.m. Same day registration for the 5 km and 10 km races is $10 per person. Everyone is welcome to visit the information booths free of charge. There will also be draws for door prizes and a chance to win free registration for the Cape Breton Fiddlers Run, September. 20 at Victoria Park in Sydney.
