The Cape Breton Fiddlers Run and the Cape Breton Family YMCA have formed a partnership to help people Learn to Run. The eight-week, Learn to Run clinics takes place in the spring and fall in preparation for the Fiddlers Run.
The clinics are designed for beginner runners. Whether you exercise regularly or don’t run at all, the clinics can help you get started, set your sights on a goal, and work to achieve it.
The clinics are organized by YMCA instructors and members of the Fiddlers Run organizing committee. Over the course of the eight weeks, participants follow a walk/run program and eventually work their way up to running a 5km distance. In addition to the weekly group run, physicians and dieticians visit to discuss everything from injury prevention to proper nutrition.
